Pre-Installation Checklist

INSTALLATION PREPARATION

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PURCHASE OF FLOORING FROM DOLPHIN CARPET & TILE. IN ORDER TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR YOUR NEW FLOORING WE HAVE CREATED THIS CHECKLIST TO HELP YOU PRIOR TO THE ARRIVAL OF OUR INSTALLERS.

INSTALLATION APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION POLICY

PLEASE REVIEW YOUR PREPARATION RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS CHECKLIST. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PREPARE YOUR HOME ON TIME, WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST AT LEAST ONE DAY’S NOTICE. IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED AT TIME OF YOUR INSTALLERS ARRIVAL, A LOST DAY/RESCHEDULING FEE OF $200 OR $.25 PER SQUARE FOOT WILL BE CHARGED (WHICHEVER IS GREATER). PLEASE CONTACT US WITH ANY PREPARATION QUESTIONS.

DAY OF INSTALLATION

EACH CUSTOMER IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKER ON THE PREMISES AT THE TIME OF INSTALLATION TO VERIFY THAT THE CORRECT MATERIALS HAVE BEEN SUPPLIED, REVIEW THE INSTALLATION AREAS, COMMUNICATE ANY SPECIAL REQUESTS AND TO INSPECT THE INSTALLATION UPON COMPLETION. OUR INSTALLERS WILL CALL THE MORNING OF YOUR INSTALLATION TO PROVIDE YOU WITH AN APPROXIMATE TIME OF ARRIVAL.

PREPARATION

BEFORE THE INSTALLERS ARRIVE, PLEASE REMOVE AS MUCH FURNITURE AS POSSIBLE. REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM THE CLOSET FLOORS, UNDER BEDS, ALL BED COVERINGS, FRAGILE ITEMS, LAMPS, NICK-KNACKS, GLASSWARE, BOOKS, AND ITEMS ON TOP OF YOUR FURNITURE. ALL COMPUTERS, STEREOS, TELEVISIONS, OR OTHER ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT MUST BE DISCONNECTED. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBE FOR DAMAGES AS A RESULT OF DISCONNECTING OR RECONNECTING ANY WATER SUPPLY LINES, APPLIANCES, TOILETS, OR REPOSITIONING OF WIRES, CABLES, ALARM OR PHONE LINES: WE RECOMMEND THAT THE HOMEOWNER USE A CERTIFIED PLUMBER, ELECTRICIAN OR CONTRACTOR TO DO THIS. YOUR NEW FLOORING MAY CREATE CLEARANCE ISSUES WITH EXISTING DOORS. PLEASE MAKE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS AS DOLPHIN DOES NOT CUT DOORS.

EXCESSIVE FURNITURE

ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL APPLY TO AREAS WITH EXCESSIVE OR HEAVY FURNITURE OR ANY FURNITURE THAT REQUIRES DISASSEMBLY. WE DO NOT MOVE ANTIQUES, GRANDFATHER CLOCKS, AQUARIUMS, POOL TABLES, WATERBEDS, MECHANICAL/ADJUSTABLE/SLEEP NUMBER BEDS, SAFES, GYM EQUIPMENT, BABY GRAND OR GRAND PIANOS (MOST OF THESE ITEMS NEED TO BE PROFESSIONALLY MOVED). WE RECOMMEND YOU INSTALL FELT PADS UNDER ALL FURNITURE AND USE CHAIR PADS UNDER ROLLING CHAIRS.

SECURED PREMISES

(CONDOMINIUMS AND GATED COMMUNITIES) PLEASE CHECK WITH THE BUILDING/PROPERTY MANAGEMENT FOR ACCESSIBILITY TO PARKING, ELEVATORS, SERVICE ENTRANCES, PROCEDURES AND DOCUMENTATION THAT MAY BE REQUIRED TO BE ONSITE (I.E. INSURANCE, PERMITS, MATERIAL SPEC SHEETS, ETC.) ALL ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO OUR INSTALLERS ARRIVING.

PROPER POWER

MAKE SURE THERE IS ADEQUATE POWER, LIGHT, AND VENTILATION AVAILABLE 24 HOURS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. AIR CONDITIONING IS MANDATORY FOR ALL WOOD OR LAMINATE INSTALLATIONS.

REMOVAL OF OLD FLOORING

SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD FLOORING, THE SUBFLOOR MUST BE CLEANED AND PREPARED TO RECEIVE THE NEW FLOORING. EXISTING TACK STRIPS SHOULD BE LEFT IN PLACE IF CARPET AND PAD ARE BEING REINSTALLED. DOLPHIN CARPET WILL REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF YOU OLD FLOORING AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE. FOR REMOVAL OF TILE OR WOOD FLOORS, BE AWARE THAT DUST WILL BE CREATED AND CAN TRAVEL THROUGHOUT YOUR HOME. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU COVER ANY FURNISHINGS AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT. WE ALSO RECOMMEND THAT YOU TURN OFF YOUR AC UNIT AND COVER ALL INTAKE VENTS. FLOOR PREP, IF REQUIRED, IS SUBJECT TO ADDITIONAL COSTS.

SEAMS

JUST AS WITH ANY MATERIAL SUCH AS CLOTHING, DRAPES, OR UPHOLSTERY, SEAMS ARE NOT INVISIBLE. SOME CARPETS WILL SEAM BETTER THAN OTHERS, EACH FABRIC HAS ITS OWN CHARACTERISTICS. WE CAN ONLY GUARANTEE THAT OUR SEAMS WILL BE PROPERLY MADE (STRAIGHT, NOT GAPPED, OR OVERLAPPING). SEAM PLACEMENT AND THE NUMBER OF SEAMS IS A FACTOR IN DETERMINING THE TOTAL SQUARE YARDAGE REQUIRED. WE WILL ESTIMATE YOUR INSTALLATION BASED ON WHAT OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF CONSIDERS TO BE PROPER SEAM PLACEMENT. IF YOU SHOULD HAVE A PREFERENCE IN SEAM PLACEMENT PLEASE INFORM YOUR SALESPERSON BEFORE THE MATERIAL IS ORDERED.

NICKS AND SCRATCHES

NORMAL INSTALLATION METHODS MAY RESULT IN NICKS, SCUFFS OR SCRATCHES TO YOUR BASEBOARDS AND WALLS. EXPECT TOUCHUPS TO PAINT OR WALLPAPER AFTER THE INSTALLATION. REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION OF EXISTING BASEBOARDS/MOLDINGS MAY RESULT IN BREAKAGE/DAMAGE AT CUSTOMERS RISK.

SATISFACTION CERTIFICATE

UPON COMPLETION THE INSTALLER WILL WALK THE INSTALLED AREAS WITH YOU TO MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION MEETS YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
YOU OR YOUR AGENT WILL BE ASKED TO SIGN A SATISFACTION CERTIFICATE AT THAT TIME.

COD PAYMENT MUST BE PAID UPON ARRIVAL IN ORDER FOR YOUR INSTALLATION TO BEGIN. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS.
