Choosing The Best Laminate
Laminate flooring is a remarkably durable surface that is stain resistant and does not need to be varnished or waxed. This makes it very easy to maintain. These are floors for busy households, especially homes with kids and pets.
Understand Laminate Pricing
When considering laminates, there is not much price variation in the various styles. This is due to the relatively uniform manufacturing process for all laminates. No matter what the style, color, or type, it is still a photograph that provides the decorative surface. More expensive laminates include those with a textured and more natural looking surface with a greater number of screens. Laminate floors that simulate the more exotic varieties of hardwood flooring quickly rise in price. However, higher-end laminates are more durable and have extended warranties.
Laminate is a Floating Floor
Laminate floors are usually installed using a floating floor system, in which a padded underlayment sits between the subfloor and the laminate planks. These planks sit directly on the underlayment and are not anchored to the subfloor on the bottom, but rather are anchored by the edges.
When walked upon, this type of installation can produce a hollow sound and have a slight give. Slight ridging or peaking where planks are joined together might also occur.
Laminate Flooring Colors & Species
Laminate is well-suited for individuals who want the look and feel of real hardwood or stone without the associated cost and maintenance. It also functions well in any space. You can choose from a variety of colors and wood grains to complement any look.
Dark
Select the laminate floor color to compliment the size of your room. Remember that darker colors will absorb the light and create a more intimate setting, while lighter colors will make a small room appear larger.
Grey
When it comes to following a specific design scheme, grey floors can be used as the foundation for almost any look! And wood or tile-look grey laminate is no exception.
Oak
Oak-look laminate flooring offers all the style of genuine oak hardwood floors but in easy-care laminate.
Laminate Flooring Types
Because of laminate's growing popularity, manufacturers are creating an increasing array of styles, including traditional, rustic, and exotic wood grain and stone designs. In fact, presses have improved to the point where the texture imprinted on top of the design looks more real than ever, even with distressed wood or natural stone designs.
